Responsibilities

To support the strategic growth of Principal’s private markets business in APAC & Middle East. The Director will be responsible for driving AUM growth, enabling institutional distribution teams, and ensuring a consistent and scalable go-to-market strategy across the region. The role requires strong internal stakeholder management, deep collaboration with investment boutiques and portfolio managers, and active engagement with institutional clients and fund selectors

  1. Strategic Distribution & Market Execution
    • Develop and implement a consistent go-to-market strategy for private markets across APAC and Middle East
    • Partner with institutional distribution teams to drive AUM growth and client engagement.
    • Build strong relationships with PGI boutiques and portfolio managers to ensure alignment on product messaging and market positioning.
    • Support fundraising efforts for regional real estate platforms, including Winning Stone in China
    • Prioritize sales and distribution efforts to ensure the most efficient use of time and maximization of sales activities. Ensure that Principal’s range of capabilities is made known to our clients or prospects and provide feedback back to the relevant investment boutiques
  2. Client Engagement & Sales Enablement
    • Support client meetings, prepare tailored sales materials, and follow up on opportunities.
    • Provide subject matter expertise on private real estate offerings and market dynamics.
    • Mentor and support sales teams to ensure effective execution of the sales process.
    • Prioritize sales governance to ensure that all sales teams are coordinated to drive the appropriate strategies to meet collective targets.
  3. Internal Stakeholder Management
    • Coordinate with internal teams (product, marketing, legal, compliance, operations) to ensure readiness and alignment.
    • Liaise with global Principal teams to ensure a unified approach to global fund distributors.
    • Facilitate timely responses to client queries by working with colleagues across APAC, the U.S., and Europe.
    • Incorporate feedback from boutiques and stakeholders into strategy refinement and execution

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in private markets, with a strong focus on real estate in Asia Experience in private credit or credit financing/structuring is a plus.
  • Demonstrated sales aptitude with a proven track record in institutional client engagement and AUM growth.
  • Background in financial services, with strong knowledge of current economic and financial market trends.
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex investment structures.
  • Strong client orientation and ability to independently solve complex client problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Able to work autonomously and manage priorities in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business focus with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to execution.
  • Experience in marketing or marketing support is a plus, especially in product positioning and client materials.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and takes ownership and accountability for tasks and outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional qualifications in private assets preferred.
  • Comfortable working across cultures and geographies, with a global mindset and regional agility.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is a plus
